Gaatha's History

Down the memory lane!....

After birth, immediately Gaatha was admitted in NICU at Shushursha Hospital, Dadar.  On 6th day, Pediatrician Dr. Tanmay Aamladi suggested an MRI.  We received the report on 7th day and were informed about her neurological problem. Pediatrician explained her ‘would be’ status and immediately recommended to start with Physiotherapy. Doctors initially struggled for her survival.

I remember, shredding tears when my sister and Geetanjali’s mama came to see Gaatha in the NICU for the first time but that was the last time, I cried for my dear.

Yes, as a parent that was a sad beginning but definitely it was not something that devastated or ruined my life, may be because of my spiritual background. Yes, I do confess that as a human being, negative thoughts did struck my mind, foreseeing her upbringing that would ruin our personal life but those were very temporary. ‘Accept things in life as they come’ was among the ‘Lessons Learnt’ in life but never as on date had accepted Gaatha as a ‘Challenge’; Vasa Concept has made me realize that honestly!

Geetanjali, her mother is an extremely caring and worrying kind, a true mother; I’ve never ever seen somebody of her kind in my lifetime. I really admire her for that. I don’t think Gaatha has anyway spoiled our any kind of relationship rather she helped us to know more about each other. I would have never discovered a Great Mother in Geeta, if Gaatha wouldn’t have existed. Sometimes Geeta’s patience and perseverance I can never imagine with myself. She pats her for hours before Gaatha goes to sleep. I can’t pat her for more than 10 minutes. ‘Sleep’ has been a major problem with Gaatha.

I don’t think our relationship has spoiled anyway with any of our family members either; rather they have always been supporting and informing me about every new thing on Celebral Palsy (like my sister was forcing me for quite some time to visit Dr. Vasa). Not to mention, but we both are generally praised by people around for taking Gaatha sportingly and accepting the fact of Life. I do remember one of my close relative made me aware of my ‘so called bad deeds or Karma’ that fetched me child like Gaatha but now the things are OK with all.

Best part is to learn ignorance, at times, feel happy and have self belief, to overcome any kind of emotional turbulence.

We tried almost every treatment for Gaatha that we heard of, be it a qualified doctor or an illiterate quack. Physiotherapy started from 26th day of her birth at Dr. Trupti Nanavati but shifted to Dr. Asha Chitnis when Gaatha was 3.5 years.

We consulted regularly with Dr. Anaita Hegde (Pediatric Neurologist).

Dr. Dedhia initially treated her for Homeopathy and Pranic healing.

She underwent ayurvedic treatment by Dr. Pankaj Naram and Dr. Balaji Tambe.

For Naturopathy we consulted Dr. Piyush.

Botox treatment twice was found absolutely futile.

October 2007

We had been to Delhi for the enquiry of HBOT treatment. We got her SPECT SCAN and assessment done at UDAAN. NOT STARTED TREATMENT.

We literally left no stone unturned in those 7 years of our daughter’s life; we always were hopeful that someday something will work for her.  But the fact was that despite giving so many different kinds of treatments, our child went on deteriorating as she grew up; so far, nothing seemed to help her.

She was undergoing physiotherapy and homeopathy medicines on regular basis. We both were mentally depressed before meeting Dr. Vasa. We were advised for immediate surgery for dislocation of her left hip by Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ashok Johari and therapist. At the other end homeopath Dr. Prafulla Vijaykar saying ‘No’ to Surgery. He claimed he is working on the entire body and not on individual part of the body. His school of thoughts, his medicine works from top to bottom improving the genetic disorders. If she has problem in her lower portion of body it means the medicines are working in the right way.

Starring eyes are sometimes irritating in Public, but I’ve learnt to stare back at them until they finally give up. At times people have been like angels, guiding or referring us to someone.

Never ever felt that Gaatha has been a burden. Apparently, Gaatha improved our Life Style after her birth. I changed my job thrice, always for better prospects. I could buy Maruti Swift for her, a 2bhk house for all of us. Hence we always have a feeling of Gratitude for her.

I’ve never felt she has taken away our freedom, though I work for long hours now. But I should confess that my wife, Geetanjali has lost all her freedom and to some extent of mine. Although, I feel her upbringing is molding us into more improvised, matured and strong human beings; you actually start working on your refinement. Needless to quote, refinement comes only with hard work.

Believe me or not I’ve never taken her in negative manner rather I am extremely optimistic for her. My personal belief, she would be an eye opener for Medical Sciences, some day. At the same time I do not believe in overnight miracles, all comes with patience, perseverance, hard work, a strong belief in your ‘Guru’ and an over belief in the Almighty!

Since the day we’ve been following Vasa Concept (July 2012), within a short span we have observed remarkable changes in her. She has improvised on head control, vision, trunk control, and her hands which would remain tightly fisted now remain open by themselves. Her spasticity has reduced without any medication. There are no convulsions. Gaatha has become more expressive and her responses are quick. Due to change in the diet as suggested by Dr. Vasa, she has been relieved from severe constipation from which she was suffering since last 7 years. She started sitting in cross legs (Mandi Position) which was not possible earlier due to spasticity and dislocation of left hip.

The intelligent Vasa Concept revolves around rigorous and precise exercises, controlled and strict diet, patience, perseverance and hard work of parents and profound mentoring by Dr. Vasa.

Dr. Vasa is our Hope, our Guru!

Millions of Best Wishes to Dr. Vasa and Vasa Concept
